Disability charity Scope opened its new Doncaster store at a retail park last Thursday.
The shop, named Home by Scope, is the first of its kind in Northern England as it provides seamless access for wheelchair users and also makes it easier for parents using pushchairs to navigate the venue.
The store interior was designed to include widened aisles and let everyone get around with ease.
Councillor Majid Kahn, Civic Mayor of Doncaster, was given a tour of the shop on its opening. The store sells furniture, homeware, and electrical appliances; amongst others, at Thorne Road Retail Park.
He praised the store as something that is more than a shop as it is a completely new concept.
Scope is a charity that provides practical information and emotional support for people living with disabilities.
They have also launched a number of campaigns and keep an eye on legislation regarding disabled people.
