Three men in court over Rotherham robberies

Three men have appeared in court in connection with three incidents of robbery across Rotherham.

In the first incident, Alex Parker, 26, of no-fixed-address, has been accused of carrying an imitation firearm in a plastic bag and stealing cash from two addresses.

The incident happened on 23 April at St Leonard’s News and Booze and then Bramley Mini Market in Rotherham.

Parker has since been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of possession of an imitation firearm.

In the second incident three men wearing masks, carrying a knife and metal bars stole jewellery after threatening a shop worker.

The incident happened on 30 April at Diamonds Classic Gold Jewellers on Church Street.

Lyle Copley, 22, of Cecil Avenue, Doncaster, and Shakil Hussain, 26, of Bridge Close, Airmyn, have since been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.

Copley was also charged with possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, disqualified driving and having no insurance.

The three men charged in both incidents were remanded into custody to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
