Study finds Sheffield children are some of the most active in the region

A report has revealed less than 50% of children and young people in South Yorkshire are doing 60 minutes of exercise every day.

Sport England’s findings showed that Rotherham was the most inactive part of the region with 36.6% of children doing less than 30 minutes of sport daily.

Doncaster and Sheffield were above the regional average, with 50.1% and 49.8% of young people being classed as actively respectively.

The study looked at 130,000 children aged between 5-16 in England and is the most comprehensive report of its kind on young people’s health.
