Doncaster NHS catering staff have called off their strike today after coming to an agreement with their employer.
Strikes began earlier this week as staff at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust were not receiving a nationally agreed pay rise.
Their employer, Sodexo, refused to pay them this pay rise as they said extra funding for NHS staff had not been extended to include workers for private contractors.
Further strikes were planned for the rest of the month but the staff’s union regional officer of Unison, Sue Cookman, told the BBC: “We heard last night Sodexo said, “OK, we’ll pay you.”
“We’re going to talk to them later today to finalise the details, but the workers here are jubilant.”
