A world renowned street artist is set to open a new exhibition in Sheffield this Friday, with the city’s industrial history a key ingredient.
Phlegm’s exhibition opens in Eye Witness Works, Milton Street, on 15 March and is called the Mausoleum of the Giants, with the exhibition depicting ancient beings who have lived for thousands of years.
Phlegm’s choice of Sheffield was a deliberate decision, said Sasha Bagojev on the exhibitions official website.
“With local industrial buildings often forming the backdrop for his murals in the city, an old factory complex is the perfect location for presenting such a poetic and personal undertaking and bringing Phlegm’s iconic characters to life.”
Phlegm is best known for his murals which have appeared in Norway, Spain, Canada, USA, Belgium, Poland Australia and the UK, where he has created murals in Sheffield.
In August 2016 he created a mural in Toronto, Canada which was eight stories high, at the time the tallest mural in the wold.
The exhibition is open from 15 March to 17 March, then 20 March to 6 April. Entry is free and on a first come, first served basis.
Visitors will be shown around by volunteers and are encouraged to keep warm and wear sensible footwear.
