South Yorkshire Police visit Sheffield housing estates to reassure residents

South Yorkshire Police are visiting four Sheffield housing estates today to make their patrols more visible.

The visits are part of Operation Duxford, a police initiative to increase their presence in communities across the county.

Officers are visiting the Darnall, Foxhill, Page Hall and Woodhouse estates to do extra patrols.

The operation has previously seen police work with the national crime agency, human trafficking teams and HMRC.

Police made ten arrests in Barnsley on a similar action day in October last year under the operation.

In Rotherham Operation Duxford led on one day to the seizure of £33,000 worth of cannabis, as well as the arrest of four men for gun crimes.
