Five footballers from South Yorkshire have been nominated at the annual English Football League end of season awards.
Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp and team mate John Fleck were nominated for the best League One player of the season.
Sharp has been in imperious form this season for the Blades, scoring 26 goals in 42 games as United finally attempt to gain promotion back to the Championship after six years. John Fleck is the league’s leader in assists.
In League Two, leaders Doncaster Rovers also have two players nominated for the end of season awards. Stalwart James Coppinger who has played for the Rovers since 2004 is nominated after scoring nine goals whilst striker John Marquis is also nominated, after leading the line for Doncaster with 23 goals.
Sheffield Wednesday player George Hirst has also been nominated for the EFL apprentice award in the Championship.
