Sheffield Sport: Weekend round-up 20/02/17

FA Cup

Lincoln City made history as the first non-league side in 103 years to reach the last eight of the FA Cup. They beat Premier League side Burnley 1-0 on Saturday.

Their quarter-final opponents will be decided tonight when Sutton United play Arsenal at 19:55.

Also on Saturday, Huddersfield Town drew 0-0 with Manchester City.

On Sunday, Harry Kane scored a hat-trick giving Tottenham Hotspur a 3-0 derby victory against Fulham.

EFL Championship

Sheffield Wednesday won 2-1 against Nottingham Forest, placing them 6th – just below Leeds United.

League 1

In League One, Sheffield United drew 1-1 with title rivals Scunthorpe United, and are still maintaining their five-point gap at the top of the table.

Chesterfield lost out to Bury, with a 2-1 result, and Bradford City drew 2-2 with Bolton Wanderers.

 

Ice Hockey

Sheffield Steelers won 4-3 against Manchester Storm, with Jace Coyle scoring the winning goal during overtime. Their next game is against the Edinburgh Capitals on Wednesday at 19:30.

The Steelers are currently third in the Elite League.

 

Basketball

Sheffield Sharks managed a 62-58 win against Leeds Force, proclaiming themselves ‘Kings of Yorkshire’.

 

 

 

Rugby

In Rugby League, Sheffield Eagles lost out 16-42 to Halifax on Sunday in the Kingstone Press Championship

SSE FA Womens’ Cup

Sheffield Ladies lost 1-0 to Doncaster Rover Belles in the SSE FA Womens’ Cup.

BUCS

Sheffield played host to BUCS nationals this weekend, with several impressive victories going to Sheffield students. For more coverage, see here.
