Sheffield has been named best city in Yorkshire when it comes to education and learning.
This is according to the Thriving Places Index – created by UK charity Happy City – which measures the happiness of all regions in England.
The index measures sustainability, equality and local conditions – and it’s in this latter category that Sheffield took Yorkshire’s highest rating.
Sheffield was also named Yorkshire’s best city for housing and transport, edging out Leeds and Bradford respectively.
Rotherham fared significantly less well, however, finding itself ranked 11th from bottom in England for equality, one place above Leeds.
