Patients are being moved to a new £40m block opened at Sheffield Children’s Hospital today.
The wing has three 24-bed wards and includes en-suite facilities for parents to stay with their child.
It also has a specialist burns unit and includes rooms for children who need to be isolated to prevent infections, such as bone marrow transplant patients.
Work started on the project in 2014 with half the money provided by the government and the rest by fundraising according to Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
More than £10m of the project was raised by The Children’s Hospital Charity.
