Science Week kicks off at Sheffield Hallam University

Science and engineering will be celebrated at Sheffield Hallam University starting today.

A week of events, aiming to inspire children and young people to pursue careers in science and engineering, will run from 12 to 18 March,

The programme will include masterclasses, talks and activity sessions led by experts and will take place both at the university and in local schools and colleges.

Various public events will also be available, including an explore science and engineering drop-in, which will run from 12 till 4 on Saturday afternoon, incorporating mini talks, hands on activities and crafts, as well as demonstrations.

An Allied Health Profession and Nursing STEMnet event will take place on Monday evening, a Raspberry Jam session will be held on Thursday and there’ll be a discovery night on Friday.

The University’s Chancellor, Professor Robert Winston, will also be dropping by to lead a talk about STEM education on Wednesday evening.
