Police looking for witnesses following Barnsley assault

South Yorkshire Police have put out an appeal for witnesses following an attack in Barnsley on Sunday night in which one man punched a fellow drinker leaving him with injuries to his face.

The attack took place at the New Bank pub on Doncaster Road in Goldthorpe just before midnight.

A 29-year-old man lost two teeth and received serious facial injuries after a fight broke out in the smoking area.

Police have described the attacker as white, of a stocky build and had ginger hair. He was thought to be wearing a dark coloured top during the attack and may be linked to a dark Mercedes that was in the pub’s car park.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the pub at the time who may have seen the attack.
