Patrick Bamford has labelled Sheffield United fans as “daft” after their team’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.
His comments came after the game, with Bamford saying that Blades fans and players were acting as though they had already been promoted.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, the forward said: “Hearing them and hearing the Sheffield boys, it was as if they think they’re already up.
“There are eight games to go. That’s a lot of points to play for so nothing’s written in stone yet.”
Bamford may be trying to add an element of doubt into the Blades’ minds after they took the lead in the race for automatic promotion.
Saturday’s 1-0 win over Leeds takes Sheffield United into 2nd place and one point clear of Leeds with 8 games to go.
With plenty of twists and turns left in the season, it is too soon to tell if Patrick Bamford’s comments will be proven true.
