Former Tyke Grant McCann returns to Oakwell this Saturday on the back of his side’s 7-0 goal-fest on Tuesday night.
The Doncaster Rover’s manager made 41 appearances for Barnsley, scoring 4 goals during between 2006 and 2008, and remembers his time fondly.
“I have lots of good memories from my time at Barnsley as a player, I scored on my debut and got a few more as the season went on,” he said.
Rovers go into the fixture in 8th, six points behind their South Yorkshire rivals who could move into the automatic promotion places with a win on Saturday.
“They have started well, as I expected, and will be right up there this season. But we go there looking for a positive result and have confidence we can do well,” said McCann
Rovers have no fresh injury news going into the fixture and will look to build on their 7-0 thrashing of Chorley in the FA Cup.
Matty Blair, Herbie Kane and top scorer John Marquis were all on target on Tuesday, but it was Alfie May who grabbed the headlines hitting a first half hat-trick and adding his fourth with 10 minutes to go.
Vice Captain, Andy Butler said, “Confidence is good after two straight wins, Alfie May was brilliant on Tuesday night as he was the week before against Notts County.”
“It will be a good game and atmosphere on Saturday, they are a good side but so are we.”
Doncaster Rovers play Barnsley at Oakwell at 3pm on Saturday.
