Man jailed for 12 years for Doncaster rapes

A man was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Doncaster Crown Court today for raping two women.

Anthony Dorey, 26, was given the sentence and a lifelong restraining order.

Dorey, formally of Howville Road, Hatfield Woodhouse, was found guilty on 28 February for two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, which took place between 2016 and 2018.

Detective Inspector Anna Sedgwick said: “He deliberately preyed on women who were intoxicated and vulnerable, duping them into believing he was friendly, before subjecting them to the most horrific sexual assaults.

Dorey targeted his victims while they were on nights out in Doncaster.

Det Insp Sedgwick added: “He has continued to deny his guilt throughout the criminal investigation, meaning the victims have had to face a jury and recount what happened to them.

“For this, they have once more demonstrated incredible courage and I commend them for this.

“I only hope that with this successful prosecution, they feel able to move forward in their journey to recovery after these traumatic experiences.”
