Labour retains majority on Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council

The Labour Party has kept control of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council as the results were declared on Friday afternoon.

Labour has so far held every seat it won at the previous council elections in 2015.

With sixteen results in, JUS News is estimating a small swing to the Conservatives of about 2%, far lower than in many other English councils such as Derbyshire.

The only seat to change hands so far was won by independent candidate Nigel Cannings, who took a seat from the Conservatives in Tickhill and Wadworth.

The narrowest Labour hold was achieved by George Derx of Stainforth and Barnby Dun ward, who held his seat by 18 votes ahead of a Conservative challenger.
