It was back to winning ways for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, after Atde Nuhiu’s late winner sealed a 2-1 win for the Owls over Leeds United.
The win means Wednesday have climbed to 17th in the table on 41 points, two points clear of the relegation zone.
The Owls will be hoping for a win when they face Preston North end at Hillsborough on 30 March.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United’s play off hopes were dented as the Blades failed to win at home to Nottingham Forest.
United were looking to extend a run of three straight home wins and could have snatched the win late on. However, top-scorer Leon Clarke squandered their best chance of the game.
The result saw United slump to 9th in the league, just two points behind 6th placed Middlesborough.
The Blades will face Brentford away on 30 March at 3pm.
There was more misery for Barnsley fans as they watched their team limp to defeat at home to Millwall, two goals to nil.
It left them languishing at the foot of the table on 33 points, above Birmingham City only on goal difference.
The Tyke’s next game will be a tough fixture against promotion hopes Bristol City at Oakwell on 30 March.
In League One, Doncaster Rovers were held to a goalless draw away at Southend United, leaving them 17th in the table.
High-flying Rotherham treated Northampton Town to a three-nil drubbing, placing them firmly in the mix for a play off place- seven points clear of nearest challengers Scunthorpe.
