Hillsborough Park, the new venue of Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival, may get an extra four nights of live music this year, after one of the UK’s leading promoters applied for a permit from the council.
SJM Concerts have applied for a maximum of four dates this September, between the hours of 4pm and 10.30pm.
The promoter has already secured deals from artists such as Harry Styles and Noel Gallagher to play UK shows this year, and this latest bid raises hopes of another leading artist heading to the Steel City.
Hillsborough Park was announced as the venue of the Tramlines Festival in July, providing a larger site with a capacity of 40,000 people.
Music fans in Sheffield have taken to social media in excitement at the news, as rumours of a return of the Arctic Monkeys began to circulate.

The band, which formed in Sheffield, were also rumoured to be playing at the Tramlines Festival, but many were left disappointed when they did not feature on the line-up.
