Tournament favourite Ding Junhui has been knocked out of the Snooker World Championships in the quarter-final.
The world number three was resoundingly beaten 13-5 by Barry Hawkins and was dominated throughout.
Sheffield-based Ding – who has never won the World Championships – would have been confident of a deep run in the competition, after the top two seeds, Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan, had been knocked out in earlier rounds.
The other match this morning sees Judd Trump look to extend his lead over John Higgins, with the Englishman currently leading Higgins 7-3.
The other two quarter-finals resume this afternoon:
Mark Williams 4 – 4 Ali Carter
Mark Allen 5 – 11 Kyren Wilson
