Campaign to stop Sheffield road workers being abused by public [VIDEO]

Amey have launched a new media campaign in support of its road workers after numerous reports of them being subject to abuse.

The company – who run the Streets Ahead contract for Sheffield street maintenance – have launched this in partnership with Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire Police and Aggregate Industries.

Gary Kemp, the account manager for Amey, said this abuse is becoming a daily occurrence and can range from being spat on to people driving their cars straight at them.

The ‘Streets Ahead’ project is a 25-year contract that began in 2012, however it was said that 70% of the road maintenance would be done within the first 5 years.
