Barnsley-born Kathrine bears the Brunt of England cricketing success in first ever women’s Twenty20

An outstanding performance from England resulted in an assured win by 41 runs over India in the first ever international Women’s T20.

Amongst the those on the team making their mark in Guwahati was Katherine Brunt, 33, who took two wickets during the match.

The all rounder came in to bat at No.5 in the order and scored four runs.

Brunt, originally from Barnsley, is the only player in the squad who doesn’t come from the Home Counties.

Despite missing the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 held in November due to injury, she still managed to top the Women’s T20 Player Index due to the strength of her performances over the past three years.

The T20 Player Index, ranks players using both domestic and international performances.

Her performance in last night’s game contributed to England’s victory and cemented her status as a force to be reckoned with in women’s cricket.
