Appeal against rejection of fracking plan imminent, say activists

An appeal against a decision to reject an application for a fracking test drill site could be imminent, according to local activists.

Giant energy firm INEOS were declined planning permission to undertake a test drill at a planned site in Woodsetts last Thursday.

But Woodsetts Against Fracking, who headed up a local campaign to stop the fracking, said there is “still a long way to go”.

Sue Schmitz-Butler, one of the heads of the campaign said they were very pleased with the result.

She said: “The decision was unanimously refused by the council and we are really glad that they have taken on board our concerns.

“However we are concerned that about the possibility of an appeal and so there is still a long way to go.”

INEOS have eight weeks to decide whether to appeal the decision.
