A woman has been arrested at HMP Doncaster as part of a crackdown on smuggling illicit items.
The 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempting to take prohibited articles into prison.
A dressing gown brought in for a prisoner had tobacco sewn into its collar, police said.
South Yorkshire Police have said an investigation is now underway and searches at the prison are continuing.
The operation is being led by Doncaster’s Fortify Team – which disrupts the activities of suspected organised crime networks.
Usually, items are thrown into the grounds, sent through the post, or brought in by visitors or staff members.
Dep Insp Steve Smith said: “We have a varied approach to how we tackle the main ways illicit items are brought into the prisons.
“If you are visiting friends and relatives at the prison, you are very welcome.
“But please don’t bring items you know are prohibited – if they are found, you could end up in prison yourself.”
