A mixed weekend for the Sheffield Steelers ends with a frustrating 5-4 loss

A weekend of mixed results came for the Sheffield Steelers after a win against Coventry Blaze and a loss against Manchester Storm.

Saturday saw a positive start for the team with a home game at the Fly DSA Arena against Coventry Blaze.

Despite late goals from the Blaze, the match ended with a 4-3 win for the Steelers and provided hope for a victorious weekend after losing 1-6 against Glasgow Clan in the week.

However, their hopes were extinguished a day later at the Altrincham Ice Arena.

The Steelers put in a strong performance, coming from behind twice to draw level against the Storm. Despite this, they were left frustrated as two goals were disallowed from the referee.

The Steelers briefly led 3-4 early in the third period but two penalty calls on defenders Davey Phillips and Ryan Martinelli left the Steelers two down.

Two late goals came for the Storm in the last 10 minutes of the game, leaving the Steelers with a frustrating 5-4 loss and only two points gained from the weekend.

The Steelers are currently seventh in the Elite League Standings.
