David Cameron backed plans for a minimum price of alcohol, in order to reduce the price gap between supermarkets and pubs.

This new plans is considered to decrease the alcohol-related crimes and binge drinking.

A research made by the University of Sheffield suggests that a minimum price of 45p per unit could reduce the crime by 3,600 offences per year. It is also believed to help the cut of hospital admissions and fewer days off would be taken each year.

However, people also argue that the majority of people should not be punished because of the irresponsible actions of a small group of binge drinkers.
