Promotion fever hits Steel City
Published on by Ed Jones (author), Iain Chambers (author)
The rivalry that spans over a century heats up this weekend, and it's not even the Steel City Derby.
The Owls and the Blades have both had great seasons, but they aren't finished yet. This Saturday, both teams play their last game of the season, and both have the opportunity to make automatic promotion into the Championship.
There is only one space left though, and one of the Sheffield sides will get it. Both Wednesday and United face teams who are already relegated into League Two, therefore Owls and the Blades are favourites to win their fixtures. Wednesday face Wycombe at home and United take on Exeter away.
The Owls have won four of their last five games and Wycombe have won none of theirs. United have won three of their last five, with Exeter only winning two.
Currently, Wednesday are sitting second in the league, 1 point ahead of United in second.

To get promoted, The Blades need to win and need the Owls to lose or draw. Wednesday's promotion hopes are in their own hands, as all they need to do is win.
Team news to follow.
